Just What the Doctor Ordered

Shawn Reichle serves as Network Administrator for Northern Montana Hospital. Located directly across from Montana State University, the facility prides itself on consistently going the extra mile to provide first-rate healthcare services to its community. To reinforce this commitment to quality, both hospital staff and equipment must adhere to a rigorous set of standards.

Maintaining its tradition of excellence, the hospital team established firm criteria when selecting the new computer to be used in their exam rooms. Above all, it was critical that the new unit function as an interface for doctors, permitting on-site updating of medical records. In addition, the computer would have to process hundreds of X-rays. Not only would such a system eliminate the need for a space-hogging light box, it would allow doctors to show patients their X-rays right in the exam room.

After extensive testing, Shawn and his team enthusiastically selected the Cybernet iOne with 19” touch screen for its numerous advantages. An obvious plus is its smooth, high-visibility interface, which gives doctors easy access to hundreds of fully digitized medical records. The interface also permits inputting information through a convenient touch screen, eliminating the time-consuming task of filling out forms with pen or pencil (and for second-guessing a doctor’s handwriting).

The iOne’s space-saving dimensions offer the hospital another major plus, easily allowing the units to be wall or desktop mounted as needed. The staff also appreciates the iOne’s keyboard option, which simplifies the use of medical software and allows the machine to function as a PC for such tasks as Web access and word processing.

From the very beginning, the entire hospital staff has been delighted with the iOne’s stellar performance. The iOne is light years ahead of the facility’s previous system, which was manufactured by a competing computer company. Shawn recalls that the hospital had tried the other brand’s all-in-one machine, but it lacked the obvious advantages of both a touch screen and the iOne’s slender physique. As a result, the other company’s machine simply was far too bulky to be practical for exam room use. Moreover, the iOne’s predecessor lost major points in the area of reliability. For example, highly inconvenient keyboard malfunctions were not uncommon.

Thanks to the iOne’s many advantages, Shawn and his team emphatically agree that the unit has helped fulfill the goals they set for Northern Montana Hospital. In particular, the facility’s doctors are duly impressed with the iOne’s performance – an impressive 90% give the Cybernet machine their enthusiastic seal of approval.

In the high-speed world of healthcare where every second counts, the iOne simply is unbeatable. Offering instant access to information, the unit truly represents the cutting edge in real-time healthcare. Tapping into the iOne’s remarkable power, physicians no longer have to wait for X-rays, records, and the like. In fact, a good number are hoping to expand the computer’s uses by using the unit to consult with other doctors in real time. For the time being, however, many of the hospital’s physicians are expressing their enthusiasm by requesting iOne’s for their offices. Indeed, you might just say this mighty computer is just what the doctor ordered.
